Feature Pillar
Giving
Giving is the one area where a mistake costs real trust and real money. Faith Members handles online, text-to-give, recurring, and in-person gifts in a single ledger, reconciled automatically against your bank deposits, so your treasurer spends time on stewardship conversations instead of spreadsheet matching.
What it does
Every gift, however it arrives, is categorized by fund, matched to a donor record, and reconciled against the actual deposit that lands in your bank account. Discrepancies (a declined card, a processor fee, a duplicate) are flagged automatically instead of discovered three months later during an audit.
Concrete capabilities
- Multi-channel giving. Credit card, ACH, text-to-give, cash and check entry, and recurring gifts all flow into one record, with each channel's processor fees tracked separately from the gift amount.
- Automatic bank reconciliation. Deposits are matched against expected batches so a treasurer can confirm a Sunday's giving in minutes, not hours.
- Fund accounting. Designated funds, building campaigns, and general giving are tracked separately with running balances, so a board can answer "how much is left in the roof fund" instantly.
- Correct year-end statements. IRS-compliant giving statements are generated automatically with the required quid-pro-quo language for any non-cash or benefit-received gifts, cutting out the annual scramble in January.
- Pledge tracking. Capital campaign and annual pledges are tracked against actual giving, with gentle automated reminders sent on the donor's behalf, never aggressive, always optional to disable per household.
Why it matters
Giving errors are expensive in a way almost nothing else in a church is: a wrong statement can create a tax problem for a donor, and a missed reconciliation can hide a real shortfall for months. Automating the bookkeeping doesn't replace a treasurer's judgment, it gives them clean, trustworthy numbers to exercise that judgment on.
